About Me

A Little Background

Hello! My name is Tyler White, I am currently a senior honors English major at UMass Lowell, with a concentration in journalism and professional writing. I will pursue my law degree sometime after graduation, but I plan on taking a gap year before then!

Growing up Playing Sports

I have been a sports fan my entire life; I played a variety of sports growing up, including baseball, basketball, soccer, and tennis. I played soccer and tennis throughout high school as well. Now I like to play basketball and soccer just for fun and to maintain good health through exercise.

Lifelong Love of Watching Sports

In addition to playing, I’ve always had a passion for watching sports too. Some of my earliest memories revolve around watching Red Sox games with my dad and brothers. I love all of the major Boston sports, though the Celtics would have to be my favorite to watch.

More Than a Game

On the most basic level, sports serve as opportunities for entertainment and an escape from the hardship of everyday life. But sports also have the capacity to be so much more. New York city rallying around the Yankees after 9/11, Boston drawing strength from the Sox after the marathon bombing; sports, and the athletes who play, have the power to create an impact, not only on an individual level, but in their communities and around the globe.

Hobbies Outside of Sports

I briefly considered a career as a sports agent, studying contract law to help athletes navigate the financial aspects of their industry. However, I’ve now changed my focus to human rights law. Aside from sports, I enjoy a range of activities, from hiking and working out, to reading and watching movies.

I hope you enjoy my blog!
